Episode 17 - Sushimi

Niue Island is a remote oasis of life in the middle of the South Pacific, which acts like a super-fish magnet.

With a population of just 1300, it doesn’t feel like a place that might have one of the best Sashimi restaurants in the world.

But tucked away here is Kaiika is a quirky establishment that was voted No. 17 on Japanese Trip Advisor as the best Japanese restaurant outside of Japan.

A large part of its success is due to the abundance of daily caught fresh fish.

So this episode is focussed on learning how to correctly store a fresh caught Yellow Fin Tuna to a world-class sashimi standard.

Clarkes' trip also coincides with the annual Humpback Whale migration.

Niue is one of only a handful of places where you are allowed to get into the water with the Whales.

In some of the clearest salt water in the world, this footage is almost unbelievable.

The spearfishing here is also world class, and Clarke finally lands a fish species that once very nearly drowned him.

He also gets into the water and scuba dives some of Niues' biggest underwater attractions.

An exciting episode in a beautiful location.
